Classic Three Family Home Available for Rent in Salem, MA

Having spent many hours walking the streets of Salem, we constantly see many of the classic multi-family homes be purchased and remodeled. We always enjoy what the new owners have in mind. Restoring an older home is full of surprises. You never know what might be behind the walls, the condition of plumbing, heating systems, insulation, and wiring. Add up these variables can make it frustrating and expensive. It takes real courage to take on a project of this nature.

This week we got our wish. We were asked to photograph a recently remodeled three-family home in the heart of Salem. It was located at 34 Broad Street.

There are three units currently available.

Unit 1 - 3 bedrooms - 2 baths - 1,410 sq.ft @ $2,800/mth

Unit 2 - 3 bedrooms - 2 baths - 1,442 sq.ft @ $2,800/mth

Unit 3 - 2 bedrooms - 2 baths - 1,249 sq.ft @ $2,500/mth

Wonderful refinished hardwood floors, large windows, and light colored walls.

Standing curbside we noticed immediately the large flat yard with a long driveway, which is unusual to find in downtown Salem. Parking in Salem can always be a problem, but this location had nice space for off street parking. The neighborhood and street are lined with classic homes. The street is wide and has wonderful sidewalks. The neighborhood is close to our favorite street in Salem - Chestnut Street.

Once we entered the door, we were greeted by a high ceilings and large windows. The sunlight was streaming in and bouncing off the newly refinished hardwood floors. Every wall was painted in a soft light grey paint with bright white semi-gloss molding. The electrical outlets were new along with the light fixtures. It provided an immediate emotional connection.

Bright white beautiful molding goes exceptionally well with soft grey walls

The bathrooms had been totally remodeled. New toilets, sinks, showers, and tile work on walls and floors. The color scheme was white with black fixtures. It sounds simple, but we had to applaud the owner for understanding it is necessary to try and make the units appealing to all possible renters. The renters can then allow their particular color schemes of amenities to express their personal tastes.

Heating these older homes is always a concern, but the owners had insulation added to the exterior walls along with door sweeps to help reduce the heating costs. The three bedroom units have three season rooms that provide and extension to help bring the outside inside as well as added living space. Great to use during the days when the sunshines in or summer days to enjoy the breeze.

We could easily see the owner took into consideration many of the requirements and concerns of the potential renters. It was also obvious the owner had invested in many features and infrastructure requirements that will make for less headaches concerning property management down the road. Installing washer and dryers is just one of many examples.

If your looking to live in an apartment that is inviting, warm, and a far cry from so many modern apartments that lack character. You can find additional information by visiting the listing on Zillow.com

It was a pleasure working with the owner not just because she was nice, but because she was kind. She has a very realistic understanding of the renter.
