Boston Yacht Club - Marblehead, MA

Marblehead is a historic seaport town that is fortunate to have a beautiful harbor that is the home to five yacht clubs. Each club has its own personality, features, and amenities. In this article, we’re featuring the Boston Yacht Club.

Right away the location provides one of most obvious advantages. Sitting directly on the water and we mean on the water, gives the members a panoramic view of the harbor. No matter if you’re enjoying the restaurant, the decks, outdoor patio, or hotel room, your views will not be obstructed.

In addition, being located in the section called Old Town, translates you can walk the crooked streets, visits the boutique shops, or grab some last minute provisions for your daily outing or adventure.

There are two hoists that are available to launch boats and space for dry sailing.

An inviting easy going bar with plenty of seats and high top tables for casual gatherings and great views.

The formal dining room has a variety of tables to accommodate couples to large groups. The tables are designed to take advantage of the views. What makes this club standout is the fact the restaurant is open eleven months of the year, while the other clubs close down. In fact, their menu is outstanding (speaking from experience).

The lobby will greet you with open arms.

There is also a nice function room available.

There are hotel rooms available that include harbor views with spacious accommodations to basic rooms.

The Boston Yacht Club sponsors the classic Marblehead to Halifax Race.

Marblehead to Halifax Race Event

Wednesday nights in the summer months, you will find the Boston Yacht Club running the evening racing PHRF series.

Along with the Eastern Yacht Club and Corinthian Yacht Club the Boston Yacht Club run the weekend Marblehead Racing Association Series.

A special racing event is held by the Boston Yacht Club called the Jackson Cup Regatta. This event is held in April right in the harbor. It incudes 8 different yacht clubs competing as teams. There are three boats per team racing in Sonars. Each yacht fighting for “bragging rights”. Great event to watch from the Boston Yacht Club.

For those hardy sailors they can also participate in the MIT Frostbiting series held in the winter in Marblehead Harbor. These sailors test their skills in small centerboard boats. Lots of action and activity. Key is to dress warmly and prepare yourself for the unexpected.
