How Mosquitos can ruin a vacation

Every year we always seem to have some clients complain about the mosquitos while visiting the Caribbean Islands during their villa rental adventures. We do our best to warn them that the mosquitos can at times be extremely annoying. It is pretty much standard procedures to advise them to put on bug spray especially around sunset time and/or when the winds are not strong. For the most part, the clients have a reasonable acceptance level.

What can I do to reduce mosquitos on my vacation?

Our clients also request villa rentals that are right on the beach. Probably the most popular request. One of the huge drawbacks is at that level the winds are not nearly as strong as the villas high on the hillsides. This translates when the mosquitos come out the people with villas on the beach will be subjected to far more mosquitos. Our advice if you find mosquitos extremely annoying then do not rent a villa on the beach.

When you are searching for a villa, always ask the management about what they are doing to reduce mosquito levels. Some will use sprays, others use machines. We have found there is no 100% solution for mosquitos but these products can help reduce the issue.
