Last December we were asked to photograph a new houseboat as it was going to be introduced to the short term rental inventory. We had no idea as to what to expect because we had never been exposed to the world of houseboats. Our emotions were filled with anticipation.

We were not disappointed. The houseboat was docked at the Charlestown Marina in Charlestown, MA. It was fascinating to see the how the entire area had been developed with historic buildings and condos hugging the coastline.

The marina was snugged into a very secluded section. Boats of all kinds were tied to their slips. It was a totally new way of life as several of the boats were live-aboard, which means they live on their boats year round. There was great parking space and lots of lights for security.

We walked down the pier and docks and were greeted by the owner. The owner could not have been more gracious. The houseboat was in great shape with all the furnishings and amenities. It was certainly “photo-ready”. The day could not have been better.

From the moment we walked up to the houseboat, we were captivated. The design took full advantage of the panoramic views. The combination of style, unique design principles made this houseboat the ultimate sanctuary, while sitting inside or on the upper deck. The city of Boston unfolded graciously all around as it provided a striking balance between the th serene and the unexpected.

The furniture was carefully selected to provide a comfortable contemporary feel. The striking water and skyline framed the houseboat like a theatrical backdrop. Fully air-conditioned and heated allows you to be comfortable no matter what time of year. The interior space derived its warmth and interest from bringing the outside in. Quickly we discovered a poetic connection between the sun, sky, and sea.

The lifestyle we chose is a crucial component of defining who we are and this houseboat is a stage to explore a new adventure. Renting this houseboat has limitless possibilities. Your life will unfold differently …you will become more relaxed….and certainly have more fun.

As of April, the houseboat was moved over to Lewis Wharf. In terms of short term rentals, the owner decided he wanted to make the stay in his houseboat as easy as possible for his guests to explore the city of Boston. Lewis Wharf could not be any more central to the coastline along with the points of interests, restaurants, shops, public transportation. Nothing short of fabulous!
