Brook Lacour - Sibarth Real Estate & Villa Rentals - St. Barts, F.W.I.

We recently received the sad news of the passing of Brook Lacour, who was one of the founders of Sibarth Real Estate & Villa Rentals on the island of St. Barts. The island of St. Barts is what is today because of her vision, spirit, genuine love for the island and the environment. It has been through her leadership and influence that has set the stage and development of one of the most amazing destinations. In short, St. Barts simply became an extension of Brook Lacour.

The island of St. Barts was extremely fortunate to have her visit in the early 1970’s before it was recognized or even on the map as a possible vacation destination. During her visit she happen to meet a young man from Guadeloupe, who had traveled to St. Barts to experiment with tourism. In 1974 Brook and Roger Lacour became a couple.

This young couple stayed on the island and started a life together along with a business to support themselves. This is nothing short of an exceptional story.

There are few people in life that we feel extremely fortunate to have cross paths. Brook Lacour is one of those people. As the key leader of Sibarth, she lead by principle. She empowered everyone around her that understood her principles to act without constant monitoring, evaluation, correcting, or controlling. Her principles could be applied to any situation or application so much so they became internalized into habits and empowerment.

She believed if you trained people in the practices of customer service, you would get a degree of customer service, but the service could easily break down whenever customers presented a special case or problem. It was through her leadership and “moral compass” that defined the culture and personality of Sibarth.

Brook knew the ultimate success of Sibarth Villa Rentals depended on the integrity of the people on her team. Therefore, she lead through her principles. Having worked side by side her was a gift…one we will cherish.
