For the past couple of decades we have traveled the globe from the Caribbean, Mexico, Costa Rica, France, Italy, and Greece inspecting and representing properties in the short term villa industry. We were doing this long before Airbnb and VRBO. Without hesitation, we can honestly say Esprit de la Mer is one of our all time favorite villa rentals.

The most requested villa rental request we get is guests want a villa with not just a good view, but a great one. Esprit de la Mer has the most outstanding 360 degree view as it sits up high on a cliff overlooking the ocean. No matter what time of day, from the early morning sunrise to evening sunsets, the guests will be entertained with the spectacular skyline.

The next most popular requirement is a great pool that gets plenty of sunshine. Well, Esprit de la Mer’s pool will not disappoint. We continue to warn guests that the Caribbean sun can quickly fry their skin if they stay in the sun too long. The owners of Esprit de la Mer knew guests would be looking for shade, but still wanted to be outside. Notice there are several covered areas outside to provide the necessary protection from the sun.

Esprit de la Mer is an ideal villa rental for couples as it has five bedrooms. Don’t worry there will not be “ugly pillow talk” among the couples as the five bedrooms were all designed with parity in mind. Couples who share equally in the costs want to have equal share in terms of features in the bedrooms.

One question we always get…”How far is it to the beach?” You can actually walk down the hill to the beach without much problem. However, walking back up hill may be a challenge. Suggest taking the car.

Of course, the common question from all potential renters is about the privacy issue. Esprit de la Mer is extremely private as it sits on a cliff. Don’t have to worry about people seeing you like they would if you were on the beach. As a matter of fact, the honest question about privacy is really about can you nude sun bathe. Without a doubt, the answer is yes without worries.

Renting a private villa is all about taking a risk. The anxious moments include wondering if the villa is really like the photos and descriptions…is the villa well taken care of so there will not be problems when guests arrive or during their stay….who does the guest call in the event there is an issue?

Esprit de la Mer - 5 Bedrooms villa

Esprit de la Mer stands for “spirit of the sea” and this villa embodies the title perfectly with its endless panoramic views. Located in the beautiful French region of Terres Basses, this home overlooks the coastline of Baie Rouge beach and adorns sites of the infamous “David’s Hole;” The natural collapsed cave. No matter where you roam, you will be greeted by impeccable scenes, from the terrace to the bedrooms to the designated viewing spot perched on top of the cliff. This property features five exquisite bedrooms and five and a half bathrooms that surround the central living spaces meaning it is perfectly accommodating to large families or groups of friends for any occasion.

As you enter the home, you are greeted by a structured entrance that guides you to the expansive terrace and glistening infinity pool beneath. This portion of the property resembles the heart of the home and sweeps you in with its array of blues provided by the reflective pool and vast sea. The patio lines the majority of the house, taking full advantage of its location. Taking steps down to the pool will showcase a magnificent gazebo, catering for the view of Anguilla and the Caribbean Sea. As you continue to walk down, there are stepping stones that reveal a little private seating area to enjoy the meditative water crashing into the cliffs. The terrace with its outdoor living spaces, perfectly blends into the interior without ever losing sight of the sea below.

The kitchen delights with warm wooden cupboards and contrasting black granite countertops. The central islands create an inviting space for individuals to enter and socialize while also encouraging a cooking environment to create any dishes you need. The height of the island allows for an ergonomic culinary experience, particularly necessary for hiring a chef. The luxurious amenities of this villa offer a Nespresso machine, an ice machine for hosting, and a double fridge and freezer capacity. Adjacent to the kitchen is the breakfast nook with a round table, spectacular views of La Belle Creole and windows that fully open for a gentle breeze. Next door is the family room which is fully air-conditioned with a dining table that creates an alternative refreshing dining experience. The artwork displayed on the walls of this space is designed by the local artist, Natalie Lepine, renowned for her work on the island.

Each of the five bedrooms presents spectacular scenes of St. Martin and the ocean at any time of the day. Three of the rooms are attached to the main structure of the home and are based on a higher level, this section includes the grand bedroom. The other two bedrooms are a level below by the pool with easy access to the gardens and a divine terrasse. Regardless of the room chosen, they are each equipped with a spacious king-sized bed, a double vanity en-suite and substantial walk-in closets. The en-suite has a rain shower and window to overlook the sea as you feel at one with nature. Each bedroom's external access creates privacy for guests while also in close proximity to the main areas of the villa. Once you spend a night here, you will never want to leave.

Due to its location, Esprit de la Mer can access all major necessities nearby from supermarkets to restaurants. The beautiful Baie Rouge beach is directly beneath the villa, however, Terres Basses is home to some of the finest beaches on the island such as Baie Lounge and Plum Bay. Traveling to and from the Dutch and French sides is no challenge permitting visitors to seamlessly explore the entirety of the island at ease. The spirit of the sea awaits in this beautiful haven.
