The biggest question we get when speaking with our guests prior to going to Villa Cielomar in Costa Rica is “What fun activities are there in Costa Rica?” While most of our guests enjoy just lunging by the pool and eating all the meals created by our in-house chef, many people are more adventurous and look for days spent away from the villa. Here is our list of Fun Activities in Costa Rica.
ZIPLINING
There are so many great places to consider at a variety of levels. Beginner levels are Athica and EcoGlide in La Fortuna, Black Stallion in Tamarindo, Los Suenos Zipline in Herradura, Hacienda Baru in Dominical, El Santuario in Manuel Antonio, San Luis Canopy. Tortugero Canopy Tour and Wingnuts in Samara.

Gulf of Papagayo Boating Tour - has some of the most beautiful coastline and beaches in Costa Rica. The gulf has lots of private white sandy beaches and swimming spots.

Zarcero Topiary Gardens - well manicured topiary gardens.

Rincon de la Vieja Tour - at the foot of the Rincon de la Vieja volcano. There is zip lining, horseback riding, river tubing, hot springs, and mud paths.
Volcano - there are several volcanoes. Located in Arenal, Turrialba, Irazu, and Poas Volcano

WATERFALLS
Llanos de Cortes Waterfall - consider the best waterfall in Guanacaste. It’s only 20 minutes away from Liberia
Del Toro Waterfall - it is a 270 foot high waterfall in an extinct volcano crater in Central Valley.
WILDLIFE REFUGE
Turtles at Ostional Wildlife Refuge - many of the beaches in Costa Rica are home to sea turtles who come to lay their eggs on shore. Best time to go is May - December. November is the peak time. Other places include Toruguero Osa Peninsula, Tambor Bay, Hermosa Wildlife Refuge and Montezuma.
Jaguar Rescue Center in Puerto Viejo - here is where they rescue injured animals and rehabilitate them to release back into the wild
FISHING
Fishing - one of the best countries for fishing. It is just catch and release - marlin, rooster fish, and sail fish.

FOOD TOURS
Food - the best way to get to know a country is through the food. Locals call a traditional restaurant a soda. Small, open air, family run restaurant. Traditional breakfast is a gallo pinto, which is rice and beans. May also include eggs, plantains, a tortilla and cheese. Most likely find a brown sauce called Salsa Lizano.
HOT SPRINGS
Hot Springs - La Fortuna includes great hot springs.
WHALE WATCHING
Whale Watching - tremendous long whale watching season. Best places include Uvita, Drake Bay, Golfo Dulce, and Gulf of Papagayo. Best months are August and September. But you can also see them from July - November.
BIRD WATCHING
