Sea Ray 34 For Sale

Sea Ray 34 For Sale - Cambridge, MA

One of the benefits of taking photographs and videos of boats is we get exposed to a wide variety of boats and locations. We come from a long multi-generation of sailors. When we’re requested to work with power boats it opens up a totally different world. My dad referred to power boats as “stink pots”. When we sailboat raced, it is far too often the power boats would fly by leaving a large wake that would knock the wind out of our sails. Needless to say, we often did not exactly have kind words.

The request came to a photograph a Sea Ray 34 that was for sale in Cambridge. MA. We had no idea what this boat looked like until we did a search. We later discovered the boat was located on the Charles River off Memorial Drive in Cambridge. MA. We had driven down Memorial Drive hundreds of times, but never even noticed the Charles River Yacht Club. Well, this was going to be adventure.

After using our map application, we were able to find our way there. Lucky for us, there was one parking space left right outside the club. It was a wonderful day so looking across the Charles River we could see the city of Boston in full view. The Charles River had a blanket of small sail boats covering the river. It was like watching a movie as the boats with their colored sails were chris crossing back and forth as the jockeyed for position.

We called the owner of the Sea Ray 34 as he could provide access through the gated yacht club. He was very welcoming as we walked down the dock to his slip. He informed us he and wife live on the boat during the summer. Our imaginations started to expand as we had to visualize living months on end onboard a 34 foot long boat. The other complication entered our minds that because they were living full time onboard the interior was going to be packed with all their day-to-day living items. Well, it is what is….

Obviously, if the new owners would be using the boat for recreation only it would be a different story. Therefore, it will require using the imagination of not having so many items in the boat. Interesting enough the current owners have found a way to make it work.

The boat had a protective covering over the cockpit, which certainly comes in handy when the weather elements turn south. It provides extra living space even during bad weather. Looking across the Charles River at the Boston skyline both during the day and night must be magical.

There is a forward berth and a head (bathroom) that includes a stand up shower. The galley (kitchen) comes fully equipped to prepare just about any meals. There is table and sitting area for lounging or eating meals. In the stern there is also another couch and table. The couch converts into another bed. It’s tight quarters, but works.
