Edgewood Yacht Club - August 7, 2022

After making a connection with Edgewood Yacht Club after 40+ years because of my extended families relationship with the yacht club and Beetle Cat sailboats, I decided it would be fun to go watch and photograph the regatta on August 7th.

It was a two day event with brutal hot weather and the full menu of sailing conditions. It certainly put the racers to the test of dealing with the 12 foot long cat boat. It was lots of fun to witness the various age groups and skill levels maneuver their way around the course. There were a few very talented sailors in the group, which made it quite competitive.

Special thanks to George Shuster, who was extremely welcoming as well as encouraging to provide the opportunity for me to re-connect with Edgewood Yacht Club and the Beetle Cat. What was an added bonus is Ted Westscott, who happens to be the Cranston Harbor Master, drove me around in George’s Boston Whaler to take the photographs. I discovered that Ted’s extended family knew my grandfather quite well.
