Kiteboarding in St. Martin

Our key member on the Generating Media Team, Phil Brown, is a FAA Certified Drone Pilot. A few years back as he was working on his skills, he was challenged to capture a young man kiteboarding. This young man happened to be Harrison Reed, who is head of operations at St. Martin Sotheby’s Real Estate & Villa Rentals.

Most of Phil’s drone flying experience had been filming stationary objects such as short term villa rental properties. It put his hand-eye coordination to the test. Good to know all those years of playing video games was going to pay off.

Pay close attention, as you will soon discover, when Harrison crashes the kite, it flew directly at the drone. Phil was able to fly the drone right through the kiteboard lines. Otherwise, the lines or kite itself, would have dropped the drone right into the ocean.

This provided a fun opportunity to publish and engaging video, that without a drone, would have never been possible. Phil has continued to improve his skills by publishing a wide range of videos that include moving objects. Our personal favorites are sailboats racing.
