Sunsets from Villa Cielomar in Peninsula Papagayo, Costa Rica
For several decades we have listened to the requests of short term potential villa renters. The number one request has been to have a villa that has great sunset views. There is something magical for people to witness spectacular sunsets. They all rush out and say “You’ve to come see this sunset!” Everyone stands still to look to the west as the sun paints the sky with bright brilliant colors.
Those with a camera, or more likely a cell phone, reach into their pockets and start clicking away. No matter where people are at home or traveling, beautiful sunsets seem to be able to capture people’s emotions. This seems to be true no matter where on the globe.
During our travels through Europe, Asia, Caribbean, United States, and other corners of the globe, it has been rare for us to witness the sunsets like we have at Peninsula Papagayo in Costa Rica. We’ve had the luxury of staying at CieloMar, which is villa we represent. It has a massive deck with a 90 foot long infinity edge pool that sits high on a 300 foot high cliff. It faces the Pacific Ocean. The shape and curves of the villa match the curves of Prieta Beach.
At just about 6:00 pm every day the sun starts to set and start dipping into the ocean. As the day comes to a close, the sun begins to start a magic show. We found ourselves determined to be on the deck at 6:00 pm each day during our stay in order to see what the sun would do for an encore each evening.
If a sunset is high on your priority list of features, CieloMar will not disappoint. By the way, the second most sought-after feature is a pool. CieloMar hits a home run in this area. There is a 90 foot long infinity-edge pool. It was built using black lava rock to retain the heat. A special treat is also included…the water is non-chlorinated so you will not have that chlorine smell. It has a saline solution, which is far more refreshing.
