Forest River Park in Salem, MA.
A hidden gem in Salem is finally getting a make-over.
Salem, MA has for many, many years neglected to take full advantage of its open waterfront spaces. Forest River Park, which is located at 32 Clifton Ave., is a prime example. Finally, it has received the attention it so well deserves.
Forest River Park offers rolling hills with trees and a picnic area along with numerous park benches overlooking Salem Harbor. There are two beaches and a playground. You will also find the Salem Pioneer Village. Improvements include new parking spaces with a re-charging station for electric cars, a baseball field, a basketball court, and a boat ramp. The major renovations include removing the old swimming pool and replacing it with two new pools. On top of that, a total remodel of the current pool house.
It is wonderful to see the city of Salem taking positive steps to provide outdoor space for people to enjoy. As the city becomes more and more congested, it is imperative for people to have a place to go to relax, be with family or friends, swim, walk their dogs, and have access to the incredible water views.
We struggled to find up-to-date information about the current status and future plans of the park. The website: www.salemweb.com provides no information at all. It would be helpful if the website could be updated with information for the public to see.
