Night & Day Photographs

At Generating Media we make an effort when we take photographs and videos, no matter what the subject, to focus on feelings; the underlying emotion that motivates people to take action and one way we achieve this is by showing night & day photographs. Some subjects are better suited than others for evoking emotions, but we have discovered even subjects that don’t seem to have some type of emotional hook can surprise you.

Develop an Emotional Connection

Before taking a shot our goal is to think about how do we want the viewer to respond to the content. Therefore, we need to get creative in trying to develop an emotional connection.

Tell a Story with Photographs

We have published thousands of photographs of villa rental properties around the globe. Each villa is unique and requires a customized story to be told from our photographs and videos. This is one of the best features of the short-term villa rental business is the potential renter has to go through the very time-consuming process of trying to sort through all the available inventory and decide what is the “best fitting” villa that meets their needs and requirements. This means we have only a few seconds to capture their imagination and emotions before they have moved on to the next choice.

Two Major Requirements of Villa Renters

After decades of answering the questions from potential renters, there are two major requirements that are the most common. The first is an amazing view and the second is a fantastic pool. Once they have narrowed it down based on these two requirements, it gets down to how does the villa makes them feel. People rent villas because they want to get away from their everyday lives and have a break. Their goal is to have an experience that makes them feel better about themselves. Sorting through the overwhelming choices can be exhausting. Our goal is to publish content that will capture their emotions and feelings in order to convince them if they rent a particular villa they will feel they’re taller, skinner, smarter, sexier, and a lot more fun to be with during their entire stay.

We have also found potential renters like to experiment by renting villas that represent totally different architectural designs and features they may not have at home. In many cases, they want to step outside their comfort level by experiencing something that is radically different.

La Danse des Etoiles

La Danse des Etoiles, which is a five-bedroom villa located on the small island called St. Barts in the French West Indies. Even for the progressive island of St. Barts, this villa pushed the emotions of many. The villa sits perched on the highest section of the Point Milou neighborhood. It enjoys 270-degree panoramic views from the early morning sunrises to the astonishing evening sunsets.

Hard to believe, but the stones that were used to build this property were shipped from the United States. The 70-foot long infinity edge pool was built using black lava rock to retain the sun’s heat. The water is non-chlorinated as it uses a saline solution. In order to make a seamless transition from inside to outside the exterior walls actually can disappear. You will also note there are two deck levels. The lower one can provide complete privacy and creates a secluded sanctuary.

This photo clearly targets the emotion of dreaming of lounging in the sun on a beautiful day out by the pool overlooking the crystal blue Caribbean waters. Everyone often thinks about having that kind of relaxing experience. A far cry from a normal, cold, cloudy winter day.

The second photograph was taken to target another emotion. At the end of a day to be able to just sit back and soak in the day’s adventures. Maybe sit a talk with family or friends in a very calm relaxing manner. This way by seeing both versions of day and night the viewer can begin to visualize what their days would be like if they rented this property.

Often people are somewhat reluctant to rent properties because they do not want to go on vacation and be stuck in the kitchen preparing, serving, and cleaning up meals like they do at home. They often say a vacation for them is not having to perform that daily task.

VillaDol_StBarths-Kitchen.jpg

To overcome that objection, we encourage villa owners to design the kitchens to be a continuous flow and view of the entire living space. This way they can feel connected to the experience plus not be trapped in a section where they might be looking at a blank wall while they prepare or clean up.

In the case of La Danse des Etoiles, they made sure this was taken into consideration. From the kitchen, in the morning you have great views to the east through the enormous glass walls. The glass walls continue towards the south and the prize is as the sunsets to the west they can look right through the dining area and living space outside. A large island was built with stools that provide a great place to cook and interface with all members.

Over the years, we have continued to make the recommendation to have a private chef and server come to the villa to totally take over all the preparation, serving, and clean-up. The meals can be totally customized and are often less expensive than going out to dinner. There is no restaurant on St. Barts that can compete with this amazing view. Now you can have the chef come in for one meal or as many meals as you would like to coordinate.

Describing this kitchen does not even come close to how the photographs transfer the possible feeling you would have either Night or Day by hanging out in this kitchen.
