Each mooring has to be positioned with enough space to allow each boat to rotate 360 degrees without crashing into another boat. This is referred to as “swing room.” This is because the wind can come from any direction at any time.

In other words, the harbormaster has been practicing social distancing with boats forever. With the weather being extremely warm it is always cooler on the water. Boat owners are flocking to their boats more than ever. The only challenge is we’re seeing many boats rafting up together near this causeway and far from performing any social distancing.

On a positive note, many are out on their paddleboards, swimming, and just relaxing as the water temperature has reached in the refreshing high 60’s.

It seems no matter what year or season homes along the harbor shore or ocean side are going under some type of renovation. This includes homes being totally leveled or remodeled. From the street level view, you do not get the opportunity to really appreciate the homes. It requires a drone to fly out into the harbor or ocean to look back at the incredible designs and landscaping. There are but a few handful of properties that actually have their own private docks.

As all of us struggle with the social distancing and seclusion, we’re going to look for ways to have our homes provide home offices, places for kids to have space for on-line learning, and for ease of access to activities such as boating or swimming pools.
